A downloadable game

Some time in a distant future, the evil genius Dr. Drone constructs an army of robots and enslaves the world! Wielding a solar powered laser beam, it's up to Hugh to fight back and set things right!

About this game

Blast Project is a retro style action platformer inspired by some of the old greats of the SNES era, such as Mega Man X, and Contra; as well as some more modern platformers like Metroid and Hardcorps: Uprising. The game will feature varying configurable levels of difficulty, brutal boss battles, and 16-bit FM synthesis rock/metal music aiming to authentically replicate the 10 channel limits of the original sega megadrive/genesis for a truly retro sound.

Alpha Demo

This is the alpha demo for Blast Project. It features a few playable levels and represents the core functionality of the game. It still has some bugs, missing/temp graphics, and missing music/sound effects, but the game is getting into pretty stable condition. The demo will remain available here, free to play, with an eventual steam release planned.

How to Play

The game is meant to be played with joypad, and hopefully the defaults work out of the box. Keyboard play is possible, but not recommended. A standard switch, playstation, or xbox controller should work fine.

Also a quick note:
Press shoot to move forward through dialog
Press left to go back to previous dialog
Press option/interact to skip dialog completely

This game was created using Godot and C#; consequently, there are no web builds. But download the zip, run the exe, and you should be good to go!

Final Thoughts

This game has been a bit of a passion project for me. I've wanted to create games that capture the nostalgia of the retro gaming era since I was in high school.

I hope you enjoy it, and thanks for playing!

Feedback is greatly appreciated!
